Katie Jeanes

Katie Jeanes is an entrepreneur and digital strategist. Currently, she works with The Next Big Thing, a tech accelerator for Canadian youth, as well as Access Our Medicine, a global health initiative to add access to affordable medicine to the UN’s 2015 sustainable development goals. She teaches digital marketing at BCIT and is the co-founder of Tradecraft, an online collection of inspirational stories and quotes for entrepreneurs.

Previously, Katie spent 6 months at Spring Activator, a social venture accelerator in Vancouver. As their first employee, her role encompassed everything from designing the first logo to developing entrepreneurship courses and launching the first incubator cohort. In 2010, she founded her first startup, A Little More Good, a digital media company focused on connecting Vancouver’s millenials with the good causes, companies and people in their city. Over the next three years, she grew the company to include 12 cities around the world including Toronto, San Francisco, New York, London, Cape Town, and Brisbane. In 2012 Katie launched HelenJean, an online retailer that created custom-made dresses. Each dress included an “intention tag” where women could select a word representing how they wanted to feel when they wore their dress, in lieu of a regular sizing tag.

She has been recognized by American Express and Ashoka as one of the top 45 emerging innovators in North America, Small Business BC as a finalist for their Best Community Impact Award, and the University of British Columbia as the inaugural recipient of the Outstanding Student of the Year Award.
